Rafa's so called "rant" was in 2009.

    A year behind the times.

as was Mutu's banning, the first of which was even longer ago.

but these are names for the awards, not the actual awards for this year.

The awards should be named for the person who last won them

Which is why I picked it as the name.
No point having the Rafa Benitez Rant of the Year Award going to Rafa :D

Put these together in the form of the Award title so no-one else thinks I was trying to nominate Mutu or Rafa.

the 'Samir Nasri: When the Fúck Did You Get That Good?' Most Improved Poster Award.

That reminds me, I must dig out that thread where I picked him as the best buy of a particular pre-season but said he'd take two years to prove me right :)

    What about a 'Statto' award?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

Actually I just thought of a better one for Wenger:

The Arsene Wenger Award for Poster who only ever responds to certain parts of posts that suits them.

all joking aside, i reckon, as small a gesture as it is, naming the services to Irish Football Award, the 'Eirebhoy Award for Services to Irish Football' would get my vote.

The Phil Brown award for the poster possessing an unwarranted amount of high self esteem!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Are there going to be awards for best prediction/worst prediction?

How about a Paul The Octopus award for best prediction? For worst prediction, well there's a good few pundits that could be named after.

Also maybe a Sepp Blatter award for biggest sore loser?

The funniest moment should be called the "Phil Babb's Crushed Testicles Award for funniest moment."

As an aside, we should really create a thread where you can post stuff that you thing should be award worthy so that you can review it later in the year. I can't remember anything pre-summer :)

    What about a 'Statto' award?
The Sam Allardyce Award for Best Use of Statistics?

Also, Andy Carroll just doesn't sit right with me... maybe The Blackpool FC Award for Best Newcomer?

The William Prunier Award for Best Newcomer

The I'm Mick McCarthy's baby award for the poster most likely to be a famous ex-footballer in disguise.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,825 ✭✭✭Mikeyt086

The "Luis Suarez" Award for poster most likely to be banned?

He got banned for 7 weeks for biting a player, something I read about right here in the soccer forum ;)

Also, rant of the year has to be The Ian Holloway Award.

I just popped into the thread to suggest something similar. I was going to suggest the EireBhoy Best Poster Award. I still thought my suggestion might be more appropriate, but I've changed my mind now again.

Either way, it's something anyone who ever read his posts should welcome. I was a lurker for years, and both before and after registering I would always look out for his posts if I spied one in a thread.

The Brian Cowan award for the best drunken post, alternatively it could be called "the Gazza goes fishing award".

Surely that goes to Sam 'I'd win everything with a big team' Allardyce.
