I have a Suzuki Jimny that is running perfectly and the temp guage is fine. The top hose gets hot but the bottom hose stays ice cold. Should it be that cold on the bottom hose? The jeep does have a viscous fan.

That sounds correct, hot water leaves the top of the engine and returns lower down. As water heats up it expands and becomes less dense, so warm water will always rise to the top and cold to the bottom.

In this weather the bottom hose, with the cold return from the radiator will be colder. It all depends on the conditions during the test you ran, if your cranking the cabin heater the main radiator may not even be needed and will not get warm.

    Thanks.
Its like that for the last 3 months, thing thats worrying me is that that bottom hose is ice cold after a 40 mile run, now it would be getting more cold air as the jeep is higher than a car but still.
