Is there any confirmed reports that the woman actually went into the river? I've heard different rumours of different things but it's a busy road along there... did someone actually witness it? Or is there a slim chance left that they didn't...

I guess there's always a slim chance: even witnesses can be mistaken.

But generally the search and rescue folks don't spent hours of helicopter and personnel time in the dark (=extra dangerous) unless they believe they're looking for something.

So I'd guess it's very, very slim.

I'd say she definitely would have fallen in, otherwise she would have gone back to her friends and family by now surely?

    Still no updates?

    No still no news.

Where was it she fell in anyway? It's a wonder more people don't meet the same fate, given the number of drunks stumbling around Galway at night and the fact there's at least 3 bridges a lot of people cross. Then again I don't really know how someone would manage to fall in either.

Heard a few rumours from friends in the rescue service but not saying anything until I can back it up with a credible source

It looks like they are searching today around the Oranmore area coastline. Teams in wet gear, waders etc were assembling in front of the Garda station at dinner time when I passed and a half hour later they were dispersing and making their way in across walls and into fields at various spots along the coast road.

Hope to God to are successful. Its not going to be much of a Christmas in that families home this year. A result would be some small comfort to them.
