im sorry but what a complete waste of time. what would be the point in going, the IMF deal and the budget is done, finished. deal with it and get on with life(not you in particular).

Well thanks Shane for trying not to cause me offence in particular (none taken btw ) but I disagree.

We don't have to accept it, we don't have to take it lying down.

    It's not our debt.

    Simples really :)

I'm sorry you feel the way you do, but there are plenty others who do want to resist.....

Don't know how this went but would the fact there is to now be a dail vote not make this a real issue again.

Obviously it will be railroaded in through the dail but surely a defeat would be significant and given that Sligo has two FF TDs outside the Whip mean Sligo could make world headlines

No. FF only decided to put it to the house after they got the vote on the budget. Translation, they know they have the majority with the two gombeen independents so they will tell the opposition that they will give them a vote on it, only because they know that they won't win it.

Jimmy Devins and Eamonn Scanlon are both looking to get back into the Whip, so they'll be keeping their mouth shut.

    How was the meeting?

There was less than 20 people there, each more bemused as to why there weren't more. There should have been more...:(

Anyhoo, the protest on Saturday is sure to be well attended and hopefully many more people around the Country will be doing the same thing soon.

Did Declan Bree mention anything about whether he was going to run in the election with the United Left Alliance?

He'll do well to get elected after the scandal of the eastern bridge and the re-opening of O'Connell Street.

I asked him this after the meeting and he indicated that it is more than likely that he will run with the United Left Alliance.
