Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I was recently trawlling through my vast collection of match ticket stubs, and I came upon a large orange ticket for a game between the League of Ireland and I.F.K Gothenburg from November 1994.

In 1994 Gothenburg were similar to Ajax in the sense that they serviced the national team to which they were affiliated with a number of players. These included the eccentric Thomas Ravelli, a young Jesper Blomqvist, Joachim Bjorklund, Stefan Rhen, and Pointus Kamark. This was very useful in the days of the "foreign rule" which capped the number of non-nationals a team could field in a European club cup match. In 1994 Gothenburg managed to oust Manchester United (beating them convincingly in Gothenburg) from Champions League contention, and picked up points against a Barcelona side containing Stoickov, Hagi, Koeman, and Romario. Like Ajax, they were a team which enjoyed their hayday before their top players were pilfered by virtue of the abolition of the foreign rule.

Although I felt compelled to write a little bit of the back-story, I was simply wondering whether many of you attended the game in Tolka Park, where a League of Ireland selection beat a full strength I.F.K Gothenburg side 1-0, in front of Alex Ferguson ? If so, wha do you remember of the night, and besides Vinny Arkins can you recall the National League team which was played on the night ?
