Heard about this today, thought it was a joke. Apparently not...
The EU's leading human rights agency has sharply criticised the Czech authorities for using a controversial method of testing whether homosexual asylum seekers are genuinely gay.

The Fundamental Rights Agency said the Czech Republic was the only EU country still using a "sexual arousal" test.

Gay asylum seekers are hooked up to a machine that monitors blood-flow to the penis and are then shown straight porn.

Those applicants who become aroused are denied asylum.

Didn't think something so ridiculous still goes on.

A friend wanted to take me to a gay bar in Belfast once. The doorman (correctly) didn't reckon I was gay, and they seemed to have a fairly strict 'no heteros' policy. He asked me to kiss my mate. I did, and in we went.
I only wanted a pint. If I was an economic migrant from the 3rd world looking to get into the EU, I sure as hell would pose as gay if I thought it was the easy way to obtain asylum.
Whatever the rights or wrongs of this test, and it would largely depend on the dignity permitted to the person being tested, you can't just take people at their word on such things.
Many benefits accrue to people granted asylum in the EU. It's not there to be abused. Every bogus asylum seeker erodes the integrity of the system, and prevents the next legitimate seeker from obtaining a fair hearing from the system or from the host society.

    omg that's absolutely retarded!

so they're shown 'straight porn' and if they're aroused, they're denied asylum. what's straight porn? as in man on woman? and they never thought that a gay man might be aroused by the man in the porn, even if the person he's having sex with is a woman? stupid stupid stupid!

Not really sure what to make of that! Apart from the obvious flaws in the test! It seems to be hetrophobic in their selection policy for accepting asylum seekers? Very odd really!

I am as gay as hell but I can be turned on by straight porn so I don't see this as being well thought out to say the least!

Sexual stimulis of any genre will give a guy a hard on. Give him a tape of pandas f*cking and it will probably work

Crazy we're part of a powerful union with them

It is also really stupid in that most men could hold back an erection whilst watching porn if neccesary. The fear of the situation would probably help

I'd say Czechs have been facepalming countrywide hearing this.

Does the Charter Of Fundamental Rights of the EU not play a part? Not to mention the Schengen Treaty in effect in the Czech Republic? Do they only apply to EU citizens???
