Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi all. I use deviantart. Upload all my photos there. Great site. It works like flickr I guess. Photos can be faved and you get full view stats etc.
    I uploaded this:
    dublin_under_snow_3_by_superflyninja-d34466l.jpg

Which after a day had something ridiculous like 2000 views and now stands at nearly 4000 views and over 500 favourites. Which is nice. It is by FAR my most "popular" photo on my site. And Im puzzled. Its fairly unremarkable to me. Dont get me wrong I like it a lot hence I uploaded it. Am I missing something?

    thanks for any feedback :D

It's a very nice shot, don't get me wrong, but deviant art is filled with the biggest load of circle-jerk pretentious morons I have ever seen.

Just recently deleted my account because I'm sick of the constant back slapping. Some guy posts a crude doodle of an anthropomorphic zebra doing weights and a thousand people comment saying "luv it xxx" or "so powerful :smileyemoticonseizure:" or "u r realy getin gud at dis  :emote of a kat hugging itself: *hugs* xxx"

    Ugh.

Yeah... it's striking, but also simple. Nice color palette, contrast, sharpness. I probably would of cropped it to a 4:3 ratio as the top third feels out of place imo.

My best description would be that it's like menthol for the eyes.

It is a very nice shot. The snow detail and the cool tone are lovely. I am not sure if I saw it on a site I would go into raptures though. It must have a life elsewhere that has made it very visible ... maybe something like Pix.ie's TOTD?

What does that stand for? something of the day, I'm guessing?

Also, OP, i quite like that shot, too. I love the colours in it.

    lol must be!
by the way thanks for the comments but I do wish to clarify Im NOT fishing for compliments! just genuinely confused.!and agree about deviantart. There are certain false elements to it.just steer away from the anime inspired "art" and ya should be ok....

    Exactly.

97% of dA users are either half arsed emo teenagers hoping someone will start a fanclub for them, or bespectacled, bearded old men who like to photograph boobies.

    True statistic that.

Are we saying it's any different to here?

Just wondering, never been to DA.

    Anyway .. I'll be Frank, Keith's alter-ego, I don't see anything special about it.

There's a serious crop in needed on the left hand side, nobody noticed that bit of tree huh? , the whites in almost ... actually, everywhere, need some pulling back, and though I like the odd selenium toned image myself, this is a bit too blue all over. Also looks like it's not sure whether it wants to be Infra red or not.

I find this an odd comment. Infrared shots often look superficially similar to this because they're white-balanced on green folliage...but that says nothing about this photo. I really have no idea what to make of your comment.

i think he was just saying 'the shot looks like it could be an infrared shot'.

Exactly. What I meant was it looks like one at first glance, to me. So I wondered if the shooter meant it that way? or is it merely the way some of the whites over exposed? I really don't get why people feel the need to question other's opinions here. It was just that, it looks to me like an Infra-red style image, though not quite full on. Better?

well initially i was aiming to increase the blues and white to emphasize the coldness. And thats what I ended up with. I wasnt specifically looking to make it look like an IR per say. Good point about the left crop needed though..I completely missed that.
