Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ok so i need some help here...
My creative zen wont turn out. I try, nothing happens, just black! I plug it in with the usb into the pc, the little blue light comes on, but nothing else happens. It doesn't even recognise it as any usb device..
I had thousands of songs on this, and due to various crashes of pc's in the house not much of that music is backed up :(:(
I've had it for 3 years now so no warranty but this is ridiculous, I remember i payed over 300euro for it back in the day, I expect things like that to last longer ....
oh yeah and ive tried the resit button also and nothing happens...
So any ideas people :) ?????

is this the big thick square fat one 20GB? i paid a lot for mine too around same €300. it broke after warranty expired so i just broke it into ****. mine died the hard drive just gave up, you could send it away to have it looked at and possibly get fixed but its probably not worth it, nest time just buy a new one from Argos and take out 3 year insurance cover out on it.

*oh yes, and its worth buying an external hard drive for your pc to back up pics/music etc. they are quite cheap to buy.*

60GB actually... yeah that would be a smart idea actually...just trés annoyed cos it took me so long to get certain songs and no they're gone gone gone.

same thing happened to me about a year ago (same model).
I turn it on, and it just freezes beyond recovery. The usual reset steps don't
work. It started manifesting itself via an unresponsive touchpad.
I contacted Creative and they quoted me €200 to fix it, fcuk that.

It's sitting at home now acting as a paper weight. I won't buy Creative ever again.

Have you used a wall charger to charge it this can often heal it if is too dead the usb will not jump start it

If hooking it up to the mains doesn't help you can always pop out the harddrive and connect it up to your desktop/laptop and copy the songs off. If the harddrive itself is broken then there's not much you can do. Popping the drive out is fairly simple, it's just a few screws.

Someone in another thread here recently mentioned that creative use some proprietary filesystem, my memory tells me that that doesn't sound wrong as I believe that was a major stumbling block that stopped the rockbox port dead, so trying to access the HDD as an external drive may not be that easy.
