Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is it possible to back-tax a car for 1 year which has been legitimately off the road for two/more years to avail of the government scrappage scheme?
(Car in purchasers ownership at all times)

Reading the answer to the question below suggests that your car will not be eligible, unless of course you have continued to insure it and that it's NCT is only expired in last 90 days.

'I have an old car that I no longer use. Can I apply?
Yes, provided that it has a current NCT certificate (or the NCT certificate has expired no more than 90 days previously, or the car has failed the test in the six months immediately before the date of scrappage) and it has been insured in your name for at least 12 months in the 18 months immediately before the date of scrappage.'

assuming you are a cash buyer, just go in and hammer thenm for a really good deal...scrapage is only €1250, you should be able to get a discount for cash for something approaching that
