So c'mon guys can we pull something out of the bag, I'd actually go with a 1-1 draw before kick off.

Chelsea have a few returning players it seems - Lampard, Cole, Anelka, Terry just back, whereas Spurs are going the other way with Jenas and Krancjar both out. VDV is definitely out as is Huddlestone, so we're actually running pretty thin on midfielders. Dawson might make a return though which would be very welcome.

A lot will hinge on who plays right-back for Chelsea. If it's Ferrera, Bale will most likely cause him a lot of problems. If it's Unibrow, his pace will make things more difficult for Bale.

It's a tough one though. I think the Spurs strikers will get good service - it all depends on whether they can convert them.

Im taking 3 points from this game, only thing that concerns me is Ferriera at RB for us if Bosingwa is out.

If Carlo wants to counter that his only option is playing Ivanovic there and dropping Essien in at CB or play Bruma at CB alongside JT.

    Chelsea 2-0 for me.

    0-0 bore score.

Stick Essien to act as cover to Ivanovic on Bale, put a young lad in alongside Terry in defense, and for the love of the baby jaysus, don't let Paulo near the pitch.
Then maybe, just maybe we might get away with it.

Anybody but Paulo :( in fact im willing to give up one xmas present if Paulo isnt played or gets injured befroe this game.

So please Santa, ensure Paulo doesnt play this game and get destroyed by Bale everytime.

No Lamps will play in a closed door friendly on Thurs. Carlo praised Josh but won't start, so the team picks itself.

    Unfortunately PF starts

Are spurs not missing modric as well?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,949 ✭✭✭SuprSi

    I think Modric is fit, so the line-up will most likely be;

    Gomes
    Hutton - Gallas - Bassong - BAE
    Lennon - Modric - Palacios - Lennon
    Defoe - Crouch

    Maybe Dawson in for Bassong.

    What about Essien in CB?

    Could be an option.

I would love to have seen :

    Cech
    Essien-- Ivanovic---- JT-- Cole--
    Mikel

    Ramieres
    Malouda
    Anelka
    Drogab
    Kalou--

Hah jaysus, that's a bad one :D Obviously Bale on the left for him. Wasn't it Vialli who was so pissed with his Chelsea team that he threatened to start a match with only 10 players?

    No, No No!
Ramieres just isnt there for me yet and Kalou is best off the bench
Essiens power is needed in midfield, and if Lampard does start, could be happy days as Drogba looks lost without him

    Lampard isn't playing.

    Dreading this game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,627 ✭✭✭Sgt Pepper 64

Remember the days when it was 3 Point Lane??

They seem so far away now......

But no, lets be confident, big this one up, this it Super Blues!
This is the match to turn the corner and prove we've only been teasing the rest of them.
Malouda to feed the Drog once more! :D

(Did that sound at all convincing??!!)

    To quote Father Ted Crilly:

"OH JESUS WE'RE DEAD!!! OH GOD ALMIGHTY!!!"

To elaborate: Spurs are in good form. Chelsea are (painfully obviously) not. It does not bode well.

Spurs to break a record in this game? I wouldn't doubt it, tbh. I can see no other result than a comprehensive victory for the boys in white. And if Chelsea play the way they have been playing since the Blackburn game, Spurs fully deserve it. A big performance is needed here from Chelsea's stars, but I don't know if it will happen.

I really think Spurs can win this, what with Chelsea's form an' all.

So therefore I'll go for 2-0 Chelsea.

Spurs have been a bit dodgy though after mid week champions league games.Long as we dont play Paulo i think we got a shot :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

Chelsea rocking ATM, even still i have a funny feeling that Spurs bogey team will remain just that. 2-1 Chelsea for me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,985 ✭✭✭Essien

We're well capable of beating them but with the way the team are playing of late I just don't fancy it today, 1-1.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

    3 point lane again please?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,386 ✭✭✭smuckers

Anyone know why drogba isnt starting?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,852 ✭✭✭homer simpson

I duno...... he has been in bad form but dropping or best chance at grabbing goals is a questionable decision IMO.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,833 ✭✭✭✭Panthro

Is Paulo playing CB or FB?
He might stand a chance alongside JT with Mikel in front of him, hes going to get murdered at FB.
Hate to say it, not surprised Drogba is on the bench, but hes not up to scratch at the minute (famous last words, he'l come on now and nick the winner no doubt!)
The three boys up front need to have their shít together for this one. Hopefully playing alongside Essien will do Raimeres the world of good. If not, we have a 17 year old who I'd love to see get some more game time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,386 ✭✭✭smuckers

PF is playing RB. Great top see Frank, looks like Josh is now ahead of Kakuta.

And then be escorted from the ground as he was never brought on.

Bad forms an understatment. It's the right decision. He keeps giving the ball away, his passing is way off and he's not very sharp.

As an Arsenal fan, I'm finding it extremely difficult to decide who I want to lose more... :pac:

It took Touré over 6 months to get fully over his bout of malaria, I think Ancelotti is beginning to realise they rushed Drogba back too soon. Better to plan without him for the Xmas season imo.

I never have any idea what Carlo Ancelotti says.

I also hope Chelsea are the winners.

    from yahoo live commentary...

Out come the teams to a massive roar. Nearly game time. By the way, does anyone else think Gareth Bale is going to absolutely incinerate Paulo Ferreira? I'd be tempted to shuffle things about and play Essien at right-back, Malouda in central midfield and bung in Drogba up front

probably some sort of anti sparking devices so he won't catch fire zipping past Paulo.
