Sorry if this is a stupid question, but is it possible to chat privately with someone while playing a game (say Left 4 Dead 2) on Xbox Live? Or are you just put into a room with all the other players? Its possible to mute others anyway though isn't it?

You can join a party with your friend and just chat to them via party chat - best to use this when just two of ye playing or it's less dependent on everyone talking.

Left4Dead - if you all don't talk, you die
Call of Duty - you can get away with having a chat
