Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi Guys

I'm trying to take files off a computer in the bedroom and am trying to do it via FTP. I have Filezilla FTP running on both computers, and both connected to the local network. But they just can't see each other, maybe I'm going about this wrong should I be connected by the local ip address.

    Any help appreciated

Do you have both the server and the client installed?

Why FTP? If you're on windows just share the folder.
If you're on a Unix based machine you could use ssh.

Check your firewalls on the machines, make sure they are not restricting what LAN access you need.

FTP? Kindof overkill when two pcs are on the same LAN.

Just make sure both computers are in the same Windows Homegroup (look it up in Help) and then drop the files you want to move into the recipient share folder - you just need to make sure you give write access to other computers on the network.

If you insist on doing it using ftp you need filezilla server on the machine the files are on i.e. the bedroom one. Once installed you need to configure it, set up a user with access to the folders you need to share.

Much easier option and faster transfer as mentioned is to share the folder on the network.

This depends on what OS you have on each machine, if you need more instructions provide details of each.

go to computer that needs the files.
    click start.
    go to run.
type in \\*** <-- replace *** with the ip address of the computer which has the files.
log in with username and password.

    done.
