Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can I just ask how this flash unit would compare to a Canon 430exII?

If its off camera should be grand, if its on camera then the 430 should have more power but not much else. The one listed is for an Olympus

In the description it says that it will fit any camera with a hotshoe mount.

I'll probably save for the Canon anyway but I was just wondering whether it was suitable as a substitute for a 430.

You can get Sigma/Metz flash units that will fit a Canon

If you keep an eye on www.adverts.ie you might pick one up there. I sold mine on it last month for €180.

That flash on ebay is only suitable for off-camera flash as it doesn't support TTL so everything is in Manual Mode.

It's almost identical in build and operation to the 580EX and actually recycles faster so if it you need it for off camera flash then it's perfect!!

I have the 560 (I use Nikon), and it's a great flash, though as others have said is essentially manual only.

However, if you are looking for E-TTL, look at the YN-467

I recently got one of these These. I think it does everything my other vivitar did - however, if I was getting one again - I wouldn't get the digital screen one. Its too finicky and to be honest, can be tough to set it up correctly manually.

I find it harder to set up then the vivitar - but that is partly down to not playing with it enough.

It is a great piece of kit and alot of fun if you get the cheap wireless triggers to mess around with.

I have 4 of them. But they are the 460-II version.

I bought one and was som impress with it that I bought three more... all for the same price as one nikon flash. I have 2 nikon flashes for TTL work, but these are great, cheap and cheerful for off camera work. The optical slaves are good indoors... no great out doors.

You can have my 460 for €150 :P

They're grand, as said, for off-cam flash. Of course they will work on the hot-shoe, just in manual mode, which isn't that big a deal. Great piece of kit for the little you pay, considering the price of the Canon/Nikon options.

I don't think I could handle Manual Only just yet. ;)
