the proof of the pudding is in the eating and since ahern got the job of justice minister until now anything he did simply hasn't worked , the situation in limerick and dublin as regards gangland gun murders haven't been affected by the laws he brought in , they only made things difficult for legitimate target/game shooters , hopefully this new commissioner will realise that and get the stupid carry on in the courts ended.

They have also made things extremely difficult for the Gardai.

During a time when the force is being decimated by a hiring embargo, a promotions freeze and very high retirements

We have a massive upsurge in crime to the degree that criminals seem to be taking over certain parts of our cities.

    What dies the Minister do??

Introduce a new Firearms Licensing system and massively increase the workload on the few Gardai that are left.

Hopefully any changes that are affected or implemented will not only see the fair application of the legislation (until it changes) but also see Gardai freed up to deal with Criminals.

yeah i'd agree with that , the situation of letting certain criminal gangs take over areas and run them as lawless no-go areas is a massive problem that ahern didn't tackle at all, still we have the new blasphemy laws , we were crying out for them.
