You'd usually check with the school itself, maybe check their website if they have one.

If it starts getting too cold does that prevent it from snowing? sees the best snow has been when its 1C to -1C

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,235 ✭✭✭lucernarian

No more snow for Louth in the next hour or two at least I think.

    Around -40c :)
The colder the air the less moisture it can hold but it's not till around -40 that it can hold practically none..

Minimum temps according to the GFS at midnight tonight. I wonder will we break the 1881 record of -19.1 tonight!?

Nope, sounds about right. There were lower daytime maxes yesterday in the northwest.

I'm a little colour blind, but looking at that chart it looks like they're having a heatwave in south east Donegal. Good for them :)

    LOL thats -20.

another few degrees lower and they'd run out of colours. I suppose anything under -25 is all pretty much the same anyway. Very cold basically :)

Slightly more activity out in the Irish Sea, heading more south possibly.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,606 ✭✭✭Jumpy

Right. F5 and I are leaving this thread.

Its too depressing sitting underneath these damn blue skies.

What is it with Limerick being immune to snow? I think we are the only place in Ireland that received none at all in the past month.

We had a peppering for about an hour, quite light, not much on the ground now.

Coldest day on record Co Mayo.
Just spoke to my neighbour who submits data to the Met office from central Mayo. The temp never rose above -3.5C today. This is a record since he started recording in the late 1950's. The previous low was set in 1987 I think. He forecasts a possible low of -15C to -17C over the next couple of nights. This would be a seriously low temperature.
