Is there any chance of the wind turning more easterly tonight? Stuff is barely scraping the coast, or seems that way.

Any chance of any of that Eastern snow or Southern snow effecting Carlow/Kilkenny/Tipp region tonight?

That 9pm forecast seemed like a bit of a ramp for the east coast vs the 6pm one. Saying some the showers tomorrow could be heavy later in the day, then Tuesday and Wednesday that other feature might be about.

Then it looks like we (Wicklow town) will get some action in about an hour. Streamers seem to be building slightly.

Never seen Gerry Murphy look as happy as he was there showing that mild south-westerly piling in on Christmas Day, he really is the anti-santa...

How is Gerry so convinced about the warm up at Christmas? He is certainly confident and is sticking his neck out.

Are these snow showers gona move inland to west Dublin?

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,235 ✭✭✭lucernarian

Even with the worse conditions for snow, many places along the coast have seen some snow showers. That's why I'm expectant for the more coastal locations. Once temperatures remain quite low. In any case, I don't think anyone should be looking for another foot of snow this week in Dublin for example. But up to a few inches is possible on the east coast by next weekend. Probably not widespread however.

Yes - tis looking much more likely now alright. Seems to have intensified on the radar for the last half hour.

Irish sea seems to be a little more active :)

After reading the reports of very light snow around here here I checked the local lampost with my telescope and can confirm snowflakes about the size of a red lentil falling at the rate of about 10 flakes/minute.

Persistent graupel here for the last few hours - getting heavy now. It's already added an inch to the deep covering of snow we have!!
