Radar borked? The west isn't being relayed hence why the west has no rainfall, which in matter of fact it does.

    Its raining here.
That's a forecast, for some reason the forecast doesn't cover as large an area as the actual radar image. Here's the latest actual image:

Temperature slowly dropping down in Kilkenny. Thermometer read 6 at mid-day. Down to 3 now and the wind is steadily picking up too.

When can Kilkenny expect snow? Friday night? or later?
    :D

Oh no this a bad sign!

Met Forecast Snow = No snow and vica-versa! Well so far this season!

I think they are using the 00z ECM data which has the low more developed and further north than the 6z UKM and 6z GFS,
    it is old data.

Met Eireann has issued another severe weather warning with up to 20 centimetres of snow forecast over the coming days.

Forecasters said this coming cold snap will be worse than the one two weeks ago, with severe disruption likely.

Snow showers will develop this afternoon over Ulster and Connacht and will continue falling tonight and tomorrow morning.

More significant snow falls are expected tomorrow afternoon, on Friday night and for a time on Saturday - with a band of heavy snow spreading across the country from the west and northwest.

It is likely that no area will escape.

Joan Blackburn of Met Eireann says conditions will worsen over the next 24-36 hours.

She said all areas of the country could expect a band of snow for a time, beginning from midday tomorrow and extending into Saturday.

"Pretty significant snowfall is expected, with falls of between 10 and 20cm in places."

Transport Minister Noel Dempsey said the focus for the Government is keeping the primary routes open.

His comments come despite criticism of the condition of secondary roads and housing estates following the last cold snap.

But Minister Dempsey said the main roads cater for 80% of commercial traffic, and that has to be the priority.

"Salt stocks have to be prudently looked after," Minister Dempsey said.

"We have supplies coming in - a little bit later than expected, but that's why we have to be prudent."

Bookmakers Boylesports are already paying out on a white Christmas in Dublin, Cork and Belfast - a move that will cost them a five-figure sum.

her forecast was hopeless wc so no need to worry.
She had snow spreading, frontally from the west on friday night.
The BBC lunchtime forecast had it spreading up through Wales and the uk midlands and the irish sea on saturday with just snow showers in the north and west inc cork and kerry friday with a dry east.
The beeb ukmo guy [ken millar iirc] had the frontal snow in the irish sea affecting Dublin.

Me thinks Nuala not being a meterologist had an out of date script.

Oh and she said it's not cold enough to snow anywhere in ireland yet...shows her depth of weather knowledge :/

Temp Has dropped to 3 in Meath in last couple of hours and covered in cloud now....

just had a little flurry of snowflakes mixed in with the sleet around johnstown in Navan for a few minutes, but it's still too wet for it to stick and it's stopped now anyway.

still plenty of ploughed snow on the roadsides and a few patches of snow dotted around fields etc. tho anyway, so i reckon if we get a decent bit of snow we'll be grand. :)

a light flurry of snow about 15 mins ago in Longford Town lasted no more than 5 mins id say and did not stick. More of a heavy sleet really than full on snow
