Should we expect this trend to continue overnight?

Could be some bad disruption to traffic tomorrow morning if thats the case!

You'd think met.ie would update their weather warnings instead of...

    Issued at 20 December 2010 - 00:40
    Severe Weather Update
Widespread very severe frost and icy conditions this morning and temperatures generally not rising above zero during daytime Monday. Some snow showers/pockets of freezing fog but most areas dry.
Arctic conditions continuing up to Christmas Day then Atlantic airflow becoming established.

    Valid from 20-Dec-2010
    until 25-Dec-2010

I suspect it may drift south as the night goes on, but really its so slow moving, areas with snow now are just getting dumped on and likely to stay like that for a while. I love these setups! The 12z 850 level winds (which are what push these showers) are pretty much in the same direction for the next 24 hours and after that is FI in these setups really, all to play for!

    Tallaght, Dublin.

We've seen more snow in the last 30 minutes than Cork has seen in the last five decades.

Bray Heads. Stand to attention!! We are about to get some heavy snow again!!

Everything falling for the last 2 hours in Dublin has had its Southern extremity over Dalkey. Well the radar is now picking up building precipitation further South East of the main streamer that given the wind direction is now going to track over Bray.

Strange that Bray only seems to get the real heavy stuff at night.

Hey Calibos, is this what you were hoping for the other night!! :D

Whiteout in D4, hard to make out whats the curb & road now

About 5cm on the ground here now. Heavy snow only lasted for 10 minutes there. Hopefully activity can stay as intense in the Irish sea.

The 850s show a small increase in wind at that level later = showers should penetrate further inland later if they keep going.

In fairness we had 2 weeks of it. It only ever comes off for us in a proper Easterly. Never expected it from the northerly blast and the winds are too slack from the east now.

Epic epic snowfall in blackrock still. Rarely seen anything like it. All the waiting and looking at weather chart models and hoping has finally paid off. And as usual, the snow was totally unexpected. Woke up today expecting another sunny cold bone dry day and now we finally have snow snow snow!!!

Why does that radar hardly ever pick up precipitation in Donegal? Theres snow in the northern part of the county all day and I noticed that on Friday as well when there was torrential snow across the whole county they only had a few scattered spots
