When you see Valentia getting to -6 you know something is up :D

Here are the lowest temps from 2005-2008

    2005 Casement -5.6 (March)
    2006 Birr -7.8 (March)
    2007 Clones -6.5 (Feb)
    2008 Casement -7.7 (Feb)

And when you look at the months these temps were recorded it shows how pretty mild the winter months were really.

Entering Dec 2009 we could only have dreamed about the lows we would encounter over the following 12 months.

Anyway this post will probably get lost in the Dublin snow thread so i better copy and post elsewhere :pac:

From Bray down to Arklow has had at least an hours snow this morning on top of last nights, I'd say Wicklow Town is a nightmare (that hill at the Grand Hotel).

That's the hill I need to go up! My car is abandoned elsewhere so I was thinking about getting the bus (stayed up here last night). Can;t figure out if I'd be better able to get into work (South Dub) on 133 from Wicklow or stay up again and bus it to and from D24. Both may be equally as bad

It's mad. And you find yourself thinking last night it only went as low as -14

I know it's probably not as bad as elsewhere, but I would say there's a 'satisfactory' level of snow here at the moment, and for the last few mins. Very nice powder-y stuff. Visibility is fairly poor now too.

Isn't it funny how I said all of this Sat and Sun when Connectivity was useless...

    Statement by you failed, sorry....
And I said the east, Not the east coast :P
In defence of dacagowa, I saw that selection of quotes too, which suggested at the time we would not have seen further snow anywhere of a few scatterings along the east coast around wicklow and dublin. It appears that so far in Drogheda and more particularly northwards, a good few centimetres have already fallen over the last 2 days. I also remember you saying that people along the east should consider themselves lucky if they see more than an inch and it appears that analysis was also misguided.

I even made a point of explaining the convective potential to you when you said that the wind forecast was inadequate for proper shower develoipment and I said that a few locations will see a few inches (i had 15cm in my head) over the next couple of days. I was referring to the east coast specifically, but that most of the length of it would see some snowfall and certainly exceeding an inch too:)

So, on the basis of snowfalls in the Drogheda and now the north Wexford areas, I would say that your forecast was indeed understated.
