Getting a bit concerned about that precipitation coming out of Wales. It's associated with an occluded front so is not likely to die out. In fact most likely to either a: dissipate to intense showers, b: intensify as it heads toward the coast. Either way a serious snowfall seems on the way for rush hour.

COAMPS showing a lot of precip in the Irish Sea tonight...

It's been snowing here since about 10.30, the odd 10 min or so break in it. Now it's gotten really dark and the flakes are huge.

School was shut early today and I doubt it will be opened again until after the xmas break.

Even before I got to post this I can barely see to the end of the garden it has gotten that heavy!

Argh, the Wales "storm" is dying down a little. Hoping it builds itself backs up and gets a bit of wind behind it again!

going to turn into a massive streamer, plenty of precip in it.

im not sure the welsh stuff will effect us much either, it all looks to be staying on the same track that it has been for past 24 hours, basically Ashbourne across to Clonee and southwards will see loads of snow.

Don't say that. It might just reach us.

Going with my gut instinct for this! Snow is going to die off for about an hour, with a drop in temps (Im guessing around 4/4:30). Snow will be light for around an hour, with it getting heaving around 7pm. Think this will go until about 9/10 and disappear for a little while, or at least lighten up. Depending on temps, could be a very little snow storm for the night, or it could be very very epic!

It has been snowing all day in (very) South Dublin, and has started to get even heavier now. Getting ridiculous now - every few minutes the trees in the garden suffer a small avalaunche as the branches don't cope and nearly cover the dog (who is loving the snow).

Because it's more marginal on the coasts now in terms of upper air temperatures. It won't turn to rain or anything like that though. It's a mix of hail and snow here.

Is that ground or air temperature you're talking about? Are you talking about Dublin or the whole country?

I have just tried to drive through Ballyfermot. I can't had to turn back. People crashing all over the place. Cant see the paths everyone is driving up on them, cant just turn a corner you have to skid around them and its still pelting down very fast, people are still trying to get out shopping but they just cant
