I think I have travel insurance on my credit card. Surely it will be Etihads responsibility to get me to my destination not the travel insurance company? What can they do
Yes its the airline if your diverted they have to make arangements to get you to your destination

Yes it will be the airlines responsibility but they may not be able to get you home in time for christmas if they leave you at another airport in a different country, you may be able to get a benefit from travel insurance to get another flight with a different company thats departing sooner than Ethiad, alternatively if you are delayed more than 12 hours upon you may be able to claim a travel delay benefit, this all depends on the travel insurance company you are with as to what the benefits are but the above are usual scenarios.

Big thaw on in the city center, if anything the roads are worse now as they are full of wet slippy slush instead of the dry stuff yesterday

How on earth is there a thaw, it's -7 at Dublin Airport?

The airport is a little inland the CC is right by the coast, believe me its melting here.

I sincerely doubt there is a thaw on in CC..roads have been salted massively but temperature is well below freezing. Maximum temperature over coast up to Christamas day is 1 or 2 degrees and that will not thaw much!!! -7 here in Castleknock.

    all is quiet?

  • Registered Users Posts: 859 ✭✭✭Vudgie

It was -5.5 according to the car on Baggot Street at 7:30am, no thaw on yet or nothing in any way significant. The roads are by far the worst that they have been over the last month this morning. The approach roads to the City Centre are all like estate roads it really is incredible.

Relatively clear sky this morning, what are people expecting for today.

I am flying direct from Abu Dhabi to Dublin so I am hoping if Dublin is closed they will divert to Shannon not the UK.

I think you'll be fine. Chances are that Dublin will not close again between now and Xmas based on latest forecasts. Having a direct flight hugely helps your odds of getting back.

-5 in the city, thaw is not possible. It's probably salt that has been put out
