I guess I'll keep the faith so, and hope for a few stray showers:rolleyes:. No new snow in the last hour. Whats the chances of being snowed in for Monday with about half an inch or so on the ground currently? Virtually none?

WTF just listening to a report on 96fm with Gerald Fleming and he said that from Monday it looks like being a lot drier yet Gerry Murphy says tonight that there could be significant snow in munster on Monday and Tuesday! Which is it now lads?!:p

  • Registered Users Posts: 316 ✭✭laurence997

Funny. On met's 5 day forecast all the snow seems to be focused on Munster.
    http://www.met.ie/forecasts/5day-ireland.asp
While I'd be more inclined to believe MT, its interesting none the less.

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray thee, Snow Goddess, for snow so deep:
Thy love guard me through the night
And wake me with 6 inches in the morning light.

Just started in o'connell street Dublin snow

    Tried a little experiment there.

Have 5mm of snow . . .gathered 500cm^3 of snow, melted it down and gave 60cm^3 of water. So thats 120mls for evey litre of snow, meaning 1.2mm of rainfall is 1cm of snow, so every mm of rain forecasted should give 8.33mm of snow.

Had the snow equivilant of drizzle in Dublin 16 for a while there. There's a light dusting on the ground now.

Heading to Galway tomorrow, coming back on Sunday to Dublin via train - I should be ok....right?

Nice to hear the snow reports from Cork, enjoy it guys.
I think between the earlier Easterly and the current Northerly everyone has seen some at this stage :D Normally i'd be raging because for the south east it's almost impossible for us to get snow from this flow. Can't be disappointed though after the 2 week event we had late nov/early dec.
Can we drag this spell out til Chritsmas day i wonder :)

Oh and a week without yer man :pac:

It's important to note that NOWHERE is guaranteed to see further snow.
A lot of speculation about loads more for Cork.
I dont see this, esp for Monday with an onshore wind.
Freezing rain more likely, and of course more lethal
Hopefully snow but not a cert by any means
Cork and Southerly winds are NOT a good combination and this is what is showing at times early next week

Just cleared the drive way again.

A little over two inches now lying in West Limerick.

In Co. Kerry around Castleisland and Farranfore there is about an inch of snow.

In Farranfore today the hill when heading for Killarney was difficult with
several motorists failing in their attemps and lorries needing to be towed to continue their journey.

I'm off for a few hours kip now as have a start in a few hours :(

Enjoyed reading all the posts. will be off the radar until late tomorrow night so until then stay safe and enjoy every snowflake :)
