Spilling rain. Supposed to get 30mm today.

Since the second of Jan we've had nearly half our yearly rainfall total.

Your ponds full for irrigation later in year so, or will a lot of it evaporate by the time it's needed

Had the first dry day this year yesterday. Normal service will resume tonight.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

They were full after about 5 days rain.
Evaporation takes a little...there is a formula to calculate it but I don't have it to hand.
Apart from the annoyance of constant flooding, it could dry up in March and have nothing until November...

Decided to make a sacrifice paddock today. Left out 5 more that have feet issues. After this evenings deluge it's definitely sacrifice

Dry but with masses of clouds scooting in all directions, think it will snow later on - at least that is what the forecasters have predicted.

do you include maize in diet, heard a chap last week claim since including maize meal in diet , feet issues have reduced in dairy herd.

No. Don't have maize. Grass/grass silage is the only feed that 90% of our animals ever get. Most of the animals have cubicles to lay on, so I think a certain few animals "just have bad feet"

We have had about 5 rain free days here in north Galway since last October, the only thing out on our land now are swans. Milkers will be lucky to get out by beginning of April.

Blustery down hear. Was spreading slurry this morning and leaving down very little marks. Went out this evening and nearly got stuck.

Think I saw that slurry heading out towards the Fastnet Rock earlier!
What an incredible days rain here, again!

In scotland atm and it was pouring from about 12 midday. Was really hoping it was just here but DSW and KG have really dashed my hopes. Looks like moving slurry from tank to tank on Saturday is a definite

More than an inch of snow this morning. Bit of a surprise.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 12,714 Mod ✭✭✭✭blue5000

Anybody round here with room in a tank could be getting free pig slurry after last night's rain.

Grasshoppers would plough the land here
Never in my lifetime have I seen it so wet

Forecast looks horrible, often wet and often wintry

    Agree.
We're on heavy land here but it's jelly like under foot. Like the topsoil could be sucked up with a slurry tank.

Depending where you are,you could have had a lot of rain by sunday night with a slow moving front over the country
    Very wet everywhere Saturday
Showers in the north sunday, longer rain in the south, drier in-between by then
Latest charts show it stuck over the south of the country by Sunday
The green is the heavier rain by then ,needless to say I'm not happy
