Am I looking for a cad program or something else?

A friend does attic conversion's and is looking for an edge over other quotes. He was thinking of offering potential customers the option to see their finished attic conversion in a 3d cad type program so they can really get a feel for it. For someone who has no experience in cad type programs what would be the simplest to get the hang of to get him started and preferably one that would not need a lot of input as this will be done at the quote stage.

    Thanks

Seems like a lot of work just at the quote stage, especially for a beginner. He might be better off doing a few typical designs (3-bed semi-d etc.) that the clients could be guided through, so they get a flavour of his work.

Maybe Google Sketchup or something similar as a start? A proper 3D program would be better but he'd never recover the costs in any reasonable time.
