Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Problem with screen backlight

I have a laptop here and it runs fine except for the fact that when I plug in the AC Mains, the screen backlight turns off and doesnt come back on until I force a restart.

When I'm forcing a shutdown/restart, the backlight comes on for a second just before the power is cut.

Anyone any ideas why this is happening and what can I do to fix it?

    EDIT

If I plug in the power, the light cuts out. but if I plug it out and press "Fn + CRT/LCD" the backlight comes back on.

When I try the "Fn + CRT/LCD" when the AC connected, it tries to come on for a split second.

Actually narrowed it down to when high performance settings come into play

When I active the high performance power plan, the back light turns off.

I have to carefully select one of the other power plans before I can press "Fn + CRT/LCD" to activate the backlight.

Anyone have any experience with this sort of problem?

Can you change all of the power plan settings so none of them disable the back light.
Its not a HP by any chance is it.

Check manufacturers website to see if its a common problem.

I changed all the power plan settings for AC to whatever the setting is for battery on the balanced plan. The backlight still cuts out but takes a few seconds to switch off, usually it cut out the very second I plugged in AC.

    It a Dell Inspiron 1525
