Why is Jason Byrne a Dublin Bus Driver?

I have seen the man enough to know for a fact that Jason Byrne was driving the 50 bus to Tallaght last night. It was surreal, I awaited a hidden camera and a punch line but none came. So now I'm wondering, why was he doing it? Bit like Des Bishop's Work Experience?
