Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Problems with some sky channels

The majority of our sky channels are fine. Signal strength and quality are both nearly up to the top on both input one and two.

For some reason when we try to watch Channel 4, E4, 4 music, Bliss and a few other music stations they break up (pixelise) and when I'm on those channels the signal strength/quality goes up and down. When I go back to BBC1 or Sky news (or most of the other channels) the strength and quality go back to the top and stay there.

We tried the ten minute box reset and we've tried with and without inline amplifiers and have the same problem. We also tried another box and the same problem.

Anyone got any idea about this? Surely if the signal is OK on most of the channels it should be OK with all of them?

Your dish recieves it's signal from 4 different satellite which are closely grouped together in space Astra 2A, Astra 2B, Astra 2D & Eurobird1. It is possible your problem is a slightly misaligned dish, it could be the skew angle on the LNB is wrong or there could be interference from wireless dect phone or similar devices.

If you have a wireless dect phone power it off at the mains and see if the problem continues.

That's a very common issue in Ireland (due to the frequencies used by the Irish versions of the C4 range of channels). A DECT phone, wifi router, baby monitor or similar near the Sky box is nearly always the culprit.

Thanks so much for your replies.
It's not the LNB/dish as we've got another sky box in another room and that's fine, get's all the channels. We've had two sky guys out to this and they didn't have a clue.

It could well be the phone, router. We'll switch those off and see how we get on.

    Thanks again.

Have you swapped the boxes around ?
    (its probably the dect phone)

Yes swapped the boxes, same problem. Will try the phones next. Surprised the sky installers don't know about this problem.

I get bad TrueMovies on one box. All from same distribution system. Must be a faulty coax.

DECT phones (really it's poor screen on the satellite cable that's often the issue) is common. Affects two groups of channels.

    1.9GHz is DECT.
    so if Sat Freq is 10.6 + 1.9, or 9.75 + 1.9

Moved the DECT phone, that was the problem.

Thanks a million everyone. I wish we had asked on here first. Thanks again.
