I've just gone ante post at 33/1. He's running in the Argento weekend after this. If he beats seasoned jumpers around Cheltenham I can see him going straight to the cup,and nearer the 16/1 mark. This is the first time since Kauto and Denman ruled the Gold Cup that a novice has a really good shout of winning I think.

I think he would have a great chance if he ran.
Only last night l checked what ladbrokes were offering on him but they are only 16/1 nrnb..l'd rather take the ante post 33/1 tho.

He hardly made 1 mistake in his 2 jumps races so far both around cheltenham.
He is only 7 tho so the owners might take the more sensible rsa route.

I see also Midnight Chase is as low as 20/1,there isnt any value in that price.
Could he improve enough to take a hand.

That's right,I priced Ladbrokes just before I backed him. Got it with Skybet, only place still going 33/1.

Anyone hear who else is going for the Argento, can't find anything anywhere.

I didn't see anything either hucklebuck.

Tidal Bay is supposed to be also

I'd say the likes of Carruthers also. I'd have said Pride of Dulcotte but he looks Hennessy Bound. Possibly Taranis will run after winning last year

Lot in TFR favour. Top drawer hurdles form, jumps fences like a seasoned handicapper, loves it round Cheltenham.

The big 3 all the wrong side of 10 and nothing else looks too scary. Id be very tempted if he was mine.

At this point I think Denman is the value. Granted he is 11 but he ran as well as he ever has last time out in the Henessy. I think he will be in the money

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 561 ✭✭✭minty16

Time For Rupert would be an exciting runner alright. I'd certainly be tempted too but I'd be surprised if he was turned out. I think Denman would have a good chance at being in the money but the last quote I saw was about 7/1 ? Cant check that in work but don't think that's too tempting. Kauto is actually looking quite big at 12's.

No 12/1 on Kauto anymore,10 is best.Denman can be got at 8/1

Pandorama will miss the Irish Hennessy, but Noel Meade is hopeful that it is only a minor setback, and Robert Bagnall still intends on running him in the GC. For big Pandorama fans this is surely good news as had he won the Hennessy he would have likely gone off a lot shorter for Cheltenham.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,838 ✭✭✭Nulty

Terrible news this. Any inturruption in his preparation at this stage is surely going to have an effect. Can't really say at this stage that its a good thing that he'll miss the Hennessey for Gold Cup punters

Seems like a very minor blip though. Surely if one is a big Pandorama fan they believe he can win the GC with or without the Hennessy. At this stage I'd imagine a big enough drift on the horse and all being well he should still be fit for the GC. Just another way of looking at it.. Personally I wouldn't have been backing him for the GC and the 'injury' is good news for me if anything.

If TFR is the penalty kick he is made out to be for the RSA, then 7/4 on Saturday against highly dubious opponents like Punchestowns and Tidal Bay is big value.

Punchestowns has been a disappointment since he went ovet the bigger obstacles, and TB is prone to serious off days, and hasn't really come near his Arkle success since.

I liked Tidal Bays run behind Imperial Commander. What price is he ? I have no access to the betting sites in work.

Explain please. He has had one below par run. I rate him as a live outsider in the GC tbh

+1 The horse has had 4 runs over fences 2 wins and a hd second to the current Hennessy fav. Only disappointment was in the RSA last year when his preparation for the race wasnt right.

TFR 7/4 - Tidaly Bay 11/2.. I know who I'm taking. Tidaly Bay looks an e/w bet to nothing in this one. He was the better hurdler and done TFR in the Cleeve last year. Yes he's been inconsistent in the last 12 months, but I think a 1 and 1/4 length 2nd to Imperial Commander can never be laughed at no matter how flattering it may be. Form in the book against top horses, a defeat of TFR at the same course, at the same time of year last year. 11/2 VERSUS 7/4 is too big a disparity for me.

I agree Punchestowns has been a bit disappointing so far over fences, maybe i expected too much.

minty Time For Rupert was a better hurdler than Tidal bay on ratings not that that has any bearing on Saturdays race.

He certainly has some positives aboout him though.

And TFR gave him 5 pounds and Rupert must have improved at least 10 pounds over fences so far than that run.Tidal Bay never got close to IC that day.

I am all over Tidal Bay for this one, he seems to love Cheltenham, 9 runs, 4 wins, 3 places - I know in chases and hurdles.

Will probably have a small EW interest on Neptune Collonges, I can forgive his first 2 races back and he always travels well around there.

Where are you getting the info ? Tidal Bay was a higher rated hurdler than Time for Rupert ?

Anyway, TFR has been ruled out of Saturdays race :(

I thought he was right and he is, Tiday Bay achieved 160, Time For Rupert achieved 159.

    Mr mdwexford is correct.
Time for Rupert was rated 166 over hurdles.

Where do you guys get your ratings? ATR have his highest as 159.

Did the reverse forecast in the Argento, pity I had two poxy exams and could only get the shekkles in my pocket onto it and never got more on Neptune for the GC. Looks good value at 25/1 all the same.

Time For Ruperts official hurdles rating is 166.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 561 ✭✭✭minty16

I still cant find that bit if information. It is not the the link Nulty gave either. I don't think TFR would have won yesterday. Sublime tactical ride by McCoy. Tidal Bay can never be written off, all it could take is him to clip two less fences to win a big one. It's astonishing how he won an Arkle and has achieved a OR of 166 over fences when he is such a pig sometimes.

Minty it is there. Click on the link and on the 09/10 leading hurdlers, you can't miss it.
