    Well I do too :)

I was thinking of the people complaining about the price. Tickets for Tom Waits' last gig here were priced at €165.

Apparently it was a **** gig.

****ing rip off. Is this an MCD gig?

Like i said in an earlier post, tickets to his UK gigs are £33, which works out at 39.50Euro, how exactly are we being ripped off??

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,688 ✭✭✭Nailz

€40 for a gig in Ireland, and for the quality of Rob Zombie??? Are you all mental? You should be counting your lucky stars it's so cheap! Considering Ireland has notoriously expensive ticket prices, and it's in one of the more popular big act venues in Ireland.

It wouldn't surprise me if the people complaining are from Dublin, no offence to you, I'm sure some of you are lovely folks, but I rarely meet a Dub that doesn't make a habit out of complaining.

I was itching to comment on this since Monday, but I planned on getting tickets for my brother as a Christmas present, and thankfully he's delighted with them.

But is it not taking advantage of the fans knowing that of course they'll be good zombies (heh) and pay that? I'm sure it's nothing to do with the band and it's the venue/promoter/etc. But it is steep. I mean I saw Amputated with Warpath and another support for a tenner. A freakin' tenner!

Prostitute Disfigurement was a tenner too (and that was three bands on the bill as well).
Why would it have nothing to do with the band? I'm pretty sure it has everything to do with the band.

Nice, I've never seen him before but I like him very much. In fact, he's one of the only artists I'd go see for the time being.

40 bills is a wee bit steep all right. I paid 30 and saw Waking the Cadaver (meh)/Macabre(wow)/Immolation(PANTS WETTENING!) and Napalm Death! (Ok I lie I left before ND).

But still 30 for all those bands!

Is it just him or is there any word on support? Would be WELL p*ssed off if I paid 40 for just him.

support is from skindred and revolker .so nothing great.

but i think 40 is a fair price for this show.ive paid more for shows that where sh*t or had nothing special ,my last waste of money was iron maiden pox fest at the 02 last time.new album is brutal also .

anymore than a tenner to see any of the bands above would be a rip off

Tried to get tickets for his Newcastle gig on the same tour but they were sold out about an hour after going on sale
support is from skindred and revolker .so nothing great.

Now I'm glad I didn't get tickets, I HATE Skindred

It's expensive when you consider the venue.
    It's tiny.

So I assume that they have to keep the price high to meet the artists demands.

Like when Alice Cooper played the Olympia in 2004.

Was thinking anybody that's going we could organise a meet up in the afternoon of the gig for a few scoops, closer to the time of course

Issues I have with this gig is that Zombie is well past his prime. He had two good albums and that was it. (Astro Creep [yeah I know as White Zombie] and Hellbilly Deluxe).

Don't even get me started on the new Hellbilly. It's absolute sh!t. The only way I can describe it is that he went from goth shock industrial rock to steampunk\burlesque\shock sh!te.

Also, regarding pricing I paid 33 for Machine Head AND Hatebreed in the olympia. With Man Must Die and Bleeding Through supporting (didn't really care for BT).

shocking stuff ,rob is defo not past his prime ,still making amazing music after all this time and still putting on awesome shows .and throwing some cool movies out aswell .on a roll if you ask me .
and coming up with the goods all the time.

machine head + hatebreed and the other two not even worth 33 quid .would only pay a fiver to see them all ****e bands with nothing good to offer except maybe two good songs from machine heads 1st album. at least with zombie you get awesome music and a good show

I don't care what people say about the new album, sure it doesn't compare but it's a rarity that he's here and he's someone that I've always wanted to see.

wish it was on somewhere better than the olympia though :/

The "other two" were Bleeding Through and Man Must Die - if you're going to abuse a gig do your homework and find out who was performing first.

Excuse, what exactly do you listen too, Machine Head are still on top of their game - did an album called 'The Blackening' and another called 'Through The Ashes of Empires' just slip by on you?

Machine Head may have lost their way with 'Supercharger' but the relevance of their music, their sound and the relevance of their presence in this genre was shown by their last two studio albums - in the absence of Pantera we need more bands like Machine Head!

And I personally despise Hatebreed but they gathered a good crowd the last performance I saw so you can't argue with results.

****1st they werent worth mentioning ,and 2nd i didnt need to do homework it was written in your post so i think people knew who i was talking about, did you forget?

machine head lost their way when they did a 2nd album and what an atrocity to put them in the same sentence as pantera .machine head are crap nu metal

death to nu metal ,you should have more regard for legends .or no ice cream for you ever!!! :D

With the greatest of respect, Machine Head aren't a Nu Metal band, and if they were - which they might have been for a small part of their history - their sound has dramatically changed to a point that they have now gone full circle to their original sound, that of a Thrash Metal band

    Seriously, just listen to this...

sorry dude but if you think thats thrash and not nu metal .your deluded .

and the start is a rip off of one by metallica and all .

that machine head song sucked .typical nu metal having these crap boring parts then taking hours to build into anything zzzzzzzz

go listen to these then compare .

gothic slam ,megadeth ,slayer, panic attack .kreator ,tankard, dri etc

go listen theres a big diffrence then to what i just heard.

This is getting seriously off topic but Machine Head would no longer be classed as a Nu Metal band, fact.

I've seen Slayer, Megadeth, Testament, Sepultura, Anthrax (I find it difficult to consider them Thrash myself), Metallica et all first hand (I could go on) - I must be a fan if my signature reports my plan to attend another one of Slayer's concerts in 2011....

My point is I can't support your idea that Machine Head are a Nu Metal band, their aggression and musical fortitude alone prove they are Thrash Metal, or at least heading in that direction.

Yeah, my bad! Sorry about the MH mentioning thing. It was rather to do with ticket prices than the band! :o

Nope, but they did do two nu metal albums, and both were country miles better than all the other nu metal out there.
Proving that MH dominate whatever they try at.

Might be getting a ticket to one of the UK show's - apparently this has been very popular and a few dates are already sold out. I could take it or leave it but if I did go I don't think I'd be disappointed.

Actually, can I just clarify something, will Joey Jordison be touring with Rob Zombie and then tour again about a week later or something with Murderdolls?

Zombie is playing Graspop in Belgium and has hinted that he will play Saturday and then Jordison will come back on Sunday and perform with Slipknot?

yes sorry for getting off topic ,but i still stand by what i said .and i heard no aggrassion in that song .heavy riffs no solos .smells of nu metal to me .+1 though to metallica defo not thrash since the 80s .also sepultura moved away from thrash into the nu metal scene.the other 3 still thrash bands .

back a little on topic ,cant wait for the two zombie shows ill be attending .
dublin venue is crap but should be a good show .

was reading an interview about this ,joey was playing two shows a night with muderdolls and zombie on the us tour with alice cooper.so rob said hed see how he got on.

but murderdolls are splitting off the tour to do their own one so id imagine joey would go with them .unless he decides to leave the band and stay with rob. i think murderdolls are hitting the uk somewhere near the same time as zombie

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,673 ✭✭✭✭senordingdong

    Fair play to JJ.

Zombie is performing near me on Feb 8th, Murderdoll's nearest gig to me is the 18th of the same month...so he could do both tours, depending

I must ask the label rep about that

Joey will be busy with Slipknot next summer so it's highly unlikely he'll be goin out to play wit Zombie

EDIT : Slipknot are playin euro festivals at the same time as the Zombie tour so it won't be happening
