    Hi Guys

I am very interested in buying a french bulldog pup. After researching many small dogs I feel this is the one that would be be best suited to us and our home. The seem quiet difficult to get over here.

    Thanks :)

The chances of you getting a frenchie in ireland is very slim. They are impossible to get and you will prob have to go to the UK for one and even at that, there are huge waiting lists.
They dont have big litters and they can have difficulty whelping so there arent many litters around that often.

Have you owned a dog before? If not i would def not recommend one of these. They are very tough little dogs and need a very firm owner as they need a lot of training and socialistion.

thanks guys. I ll check out edgar. I am also looking at english bulldogs too. I prefer them I just thought the french one might be more suitable as its smaller. The english bulldogs are so expensive :(
I got scammed yesterday by one of those puppy adoption scammers :( should have known when something is to good to be true

They are very rare here. Expect to fork out a couple of grand for one. Same goes for an english bulldog, they are really expensive although more common here. Both breeds are notoriously stubborn and difficult to train but I'm sure they are worth the effort. I met a frenchie on holidays in Croatia and it was possibly the funniest dog ever!

You say they would be best suited to you and your home, maybe if you give some info on what you are looking for in a dog, someone here could recommend a breed that is easier to get in Ireland. It sounds like you are looking for a breed with personality :p

Please do not look to buy pedigree dogs like Bulldogs and Frenchies off an online sales website, you need to contact the IKC and get a list of recommended breeders and talk to the breed club. These dogs are not very common so you need to find a reputable breeder to try and source a pup. It could mean waiting a while before a pup comes up.

Did you fork out money to them?? Sorry you got scammed, but its a case of buyer beware, if it sounds too good to be true then it is. Buying a live animal should not be done lightly and lots of research should go into it and not just bought on a whim.
