    Hey Folks,

The new 1% stamp duty that was announced with the budget had I thought, certain exemptions. I thought if a house was under 125 sq metres and was new that the 1% didn't apply?

We're buying a house that's 79 sq metres and although 12-18 months old we'll be the first owners. It is owned by Fingal County Council but is being sold privately for market value.

The budget removed most of the exemptions.

If you had signed a binding contract before budget day you are exempt. If not, you will have to pay up!
