    A is Russian.

It was ripped to shreds when it came out for historical inaccuracy (in Russia).

A famous actor from the Russian film 'Nightwatch' refused to give the director of this movie an award, he dropped the envelope and walked off stage at a live awards event in Russia.

Is A "Zvezda" ("The Star"), russia's answer to Saving Private Ryan?

No - this one was about a group of young convicts pressganged into service for mother russia after being caught murdering a grain silo guard in a robbery that goes wrong. They are then trained for a suicide mission. The original movie publicity marketed it as being 'based on a true story' when it was not.

Ok this one may be too obscure so Rednik is the winner for Soldier of Orange - this one was Svolochi/Bastards a russian movie.

    A - Black Book

Yep way too easy - I was thinking the lack of blonde hair may throw some.

B is next - that is not too hard either. Made in Russia and mentioned already I think.

B - was made in 1985 and is epic in scale.

I am offline for a while so anyone wants to skip ahead of that if no one gets it.

= Lucie Aubrac ? Pretty sure she (the original person) was on Tv in the last couple of months being interviewed at length about her wartime experiences.

Correct, yes she was, quite an extraordinary women really and her and her husband were astonishingly courageous. Lucie Aubrac is one of my favourite war films, it may not have had the production values/budget of other movies (it has the feel of a tv movie even) but it is a great story

I dont know whose turn it is now

One is american and one is filmed in Europe, but it's not those 2. I originally went looking for a memphis belle picture to use but couldn't find a good one :)

There are clues in the filenames - though they got reversed so Movie A is the one 'sinking' and Movie B is 'the year of living dangerously'.
