Isn't it a bit of a problem on that chart that there are -6 uppers and even -4 uppers right behind the -8's?? Although that will all change on every run . .

Looks like a mild sector, if thats the area I think you are talkin about.
Ah wouldn't worry about details like that until a day or two in advance, there will be big differences one way or the other by the time we get to there. I just put those up as a couple of examples of what was in the 18Z.

Beware the cold spell in fi thats always in fi ...ie that with each days runs it stays the same distance out-that ceases to be a worthwhile trend..rather its a statistical delusion.
-8 uppers are marginal with atlantic polar maratime air, sleet on coasts a given.Go warmer and its worse.
Third point-not even a hint from Rob mcelwee on his forecasts today that anything is in the offing bar this imminent 36hr briefest of cold rainy sleety visits that ends by tuesday.
Usually when theres something much really colder coming, they have the blue vs green on their maps..and Rob is the most enthusiastic of cold lovers.

Countrytracks tomorrow is crucial as the ukmo will have to somewhat reveal their thinking on the uncertainty.

Agreed. I'm no forecaster but this reminds me a lot of threads on here from mid Jan to end of Feb last year. A renewed cold spell was perpetually 7 days away - never more and never less. As you know, it never came...

As a huge snow lover, hope its different this time.

Forecast on RTE now giving cold weather with average daytime temps of 2c for Monday/Tuesday. A push of polar air to come down over the country during the week.

Just taking a look at the 18Z GFS at T150 as an example with -6/-8 uppers. Will of course change, but just for the sake of it...

Dew Point doesnt look marginal for most areas? : -2 to -4 mostly

Wet bulb doesn't look marginal for most inland areas? 0 to -4.
(Does look marginal along the south/southwest coastal areas but thats hardly unusual.)
