I'm sure it wasn't possible last week, but it does now appear that you can edit text documents as well as spreadsheets with the mobile version of Google docs. You don't get a whole lot of formatting options, but it is certainly a stepup from the previous just viewing.

there was a new update couple days ago, which allow to edit now rather than viewing only

thats pretty awesome and something I've been waiting for on mobile phones ever since I came under the wrong assumption that I would be able to do it on my nokia n95, but wasn't...
