Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Problem With Installation Already In Progress

Hi, I hope this is in the right place.

Today I got an iPod and it started to install and I think I accidentally cancelled the first syncing of it with my iTunes. Then it kept coming up that it was detected but not properly identified.

So I try then to go through all the steps the internet tells me to get the laptop to identify the iPod and one of them is install the latest version of iTunes. I get so far then it tells me that Quicktime didn't install properly and iTunes needs Quicktime.

I was also trying to install software for a camcorder and it kept telling me it couldn't install because there was already another installation in progress and the same thing happened when I tried to update my anti-virus.

I haven't a clue what to do. I have an iPod that won't work, a camcorder that won't connect up either and anti-virus I need to update. It's Christmas and I could cry. Is my computer broken? Will it ever install anything again? I'm sorry I'm not very techy minded at all and any help would be much appreciated.

Oh and I have a Sony Vaio laptop with Wondows Vista.

    Thank you. :)

This is something that can happen if Windows Installer (the program doing the actual installing of files) doesn't finish properly. Usually a restart of the computer can resolve the issue.

If that doesn't work, try opening Start > Run and type "msiexec.exe /unregister" (without the quotes) and see if you can install any of the software now.
