Lol we'll probably be talking about Detox in the Hip-Hop 2012 thread.

Speaking of Dre, his one time protege, Sam Sneed has an album coming out of unreleased tracks done while on Death Row Records. Quite interested to hear that. He had some real nice tracks.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 25,734 Mod ✭✭✭✭Boom_Bap

I'm really looking forward to that Sam Sneed album, but it could be butchered by now.

Another one to watch in 2011 is from Sims produced entirely by Lazerbeak. I've heard some bits and it sounds excellent.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,997 ✭✭✭Shapey Fiend

Jasus.. Sam Sneeds debut album.. that makes Detox seem a bit early.

I'm looking forward to Madvillain's 2nd album, whenever that comes out.

Am I right that Blu might have something coming as well?

Diplomatic Immunity 3 could be good, but I don't know if they've got good enough producers. Arabmuzik is interesting but DI1 is hard to live up to.

Wiz Khalifa should have a new one coming soon. Looking forward to that. Hopefully not too meddled with by Atlantic.

Eminem and Royce Da 5'9 are rumoured to be releasing an EP in the new year, the two leaked tracks have been very decent.

Am I right that Blu might have something coming as well?
Yes sir, he's getting his first album released, it was shelved by his label but being released on Nature Sounds. It's also being released with a second disc which is a new album. He also has something in the works with Exile which should be dope.
If you check out youtube, you'll see that he has released a few video's recently from his first album for te promotion band wagon.

Ah yeah I'd heard the really weird glitchy Flying Lotus stuff he was doing. Was wondering what the story was with the new album versus the shelved one. Good to hear the whole things still coming.

Looking forward to the Brown Bag Allstars album whenever it drops. Koncept has a solo EP coming out in the next few months too, both will be nice.

Cole World should be bananas if his mixtape is anything to go by.

Slaughterhouse have something coming this year too, which I am looking forward to.

Foreign Legion are releasing their new Album in the next few months. think the official launch is SXSW but they will be selling it in Europe during their tour in Feb and March. Been a long wait since their last full length studio album and I am really excited to hear what they have cooked up. Producition form the likes of G. Koop, DJ Design, DJ Ray and a few other Bay Area legends.

The BK MC is gearing up for his upcoming self-released record, and he’s bringing along plenty of hot-shot beatsmiths.

Talib Kweli recently unveiled some more details about his forthcoming 2011 album, Gutter Rainbows. According to the release, Kweli’s newest effort is set to feature production credits from 6th Sense, Ski Beatz, KRYHSIS!, M-Phazes, Marco Polo, S1 and others.

Also, the album boasts guest appearances from fellow-New-Yorker and Blacksmith labelmate, Jean Grae, Outasight, Sean Price and more.

Kweli has indicated that this album — which will be a precursor to the already-planned Prisoner of Consciousness album — will be self-released, after some disappointment in the way Warner Brothers Records — his former label — handled the promotion of his and Hi-Tek’s 2010 return as Reflection Eternal.

Originally slated to received a digital-only treatment in the ‘States, it was recently announced that Duck Down Records will step in to handle physical distribution within the U.S..

Gutter Rainbows is scheduled to be released on January 25, officially billed as the first release from his own imprint, Talibra.

Check out the full track list for Talib Kweli’s Gutter Rainbows below.

    1. After The Rain (produced by 88-Keys)

    2. Gutter Rainbows (produced by M-Phazes)

    3. So Low (produced by Shuko)

    4. Palookas feat. Sean Price (produced by Marco Polo)

    5. Mr. International feat. Nigel Hall (produced by S1)

    6. I’m On One (produced by KHRYSIS!)

    7. Wait For You feat. Kendra Ross (produced by S1)

    8. Ain’t Waiting feat. Outasight (produced by 6th sense)

    9. Cold Rain (produced by Ski Beatz)

    10. Friends & Family (produced by E. Jones)

    11. Tater Tot (produced by Nick Speed)

    12. How You Love Me feat. Blaq Toven (produced by Blaq Toven)

    13. Uh Oh feat. Jean Grae (produced by Oh No)

    14. Self Savior feat. Chace Infinite (produced by Maurice Brown)

If boring pop music is what you are into stick to the new DRE ****. On the other hand:

The new 'Madvillain' will conquer all.

Waterford's 'Sons Phonetic' are dropping some dirty **** on '12 Labours' featuring the one and only 'Rira'!

Shameless Plug!!! Im doing a full length release to follow up to my debut EP 'living proof that the pen is mightier than the sword'
    Get it FREE at www.spekulativfiktion.bandcamp.com

    Peace!!!

There are a few albums expected from Rhymesayers this year.
    Atmosphere in Feb
Grieves & Budo are releasing an album called Together/Apart
Rumours that Brother Ali will be dropping something too.
Blueprint - Advetnures in Counter Culture in April

Rob Sonic Aesop Rock and some other guy have a group project thing that is finished and should be released soon. The small bits i've heard have been great.

The Random Axe album is finished and ready to be released.

Along with Sims' Bad Time Zoo, there should be a P.O.S album later in the year and hopefully a Cecil Otter/Lazerbeak album.

Sam Sneeds album was an utter disappointment. Only about 4-5 songs were worth keeping. The gulf in class between original Death Row material and todays stuff was shocking.

There was two great songs: U Better Recogonize and Lady Heroine. Both of which had been bootlegged for years.

Oh they were officially released? I thought they just came with the other unreleased tracks that were released on a bootleg.

A member on a Tupac forum I moderate on contacted Sneed and explained how the fans felt disappointed that there was only four tracks from the Death Row era. This was the response.

Sam Sneed January 11 at 7:41pm Report
SO SORRY ABOUT THAT BUT WHAT THEY ALL HAVE TO OVERSTAND IS 1. AT FIRST I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT MY FANS JUST WANTED TO HEAR ANYTHING THAT I WAS DOING UNTIL I FOUND OUT LATE IN THE GAME. YEAH I HEARD SOME SAYING THEY WANTED TO HEAR THE OLD ALBUM BUT I ALSO HEARD A LOT OF PEOPLE WANTED TO HEAR WHAT I WAS DOING NOW. 2. SOME OF THE ORIGINAL MATERIAL FROM 96 WAS MISSING, THE SONG WITH SNOOP WAS ONE OF THEM. OTHER PARTS ON SOME OF THE OTHER SONGS WERE ALSO MISSING AND TO DUPLICATE ALL THAT WOULD HAVE DEMANDED TIME THAT I DIDNT HAVE BECAUSE I HAD TO TURN IN THE ALBUM QUICK, A MONTH FROM THE TIME THE BUDGET WAS CUT. THATS MY FAULT BECAUSE I COULD HAVE JUST GIVIN YOU ALL THE ORIGINAL UNCOMPLETED MATERIAL AS IS MIXED AND MASTERED 3. I WILL ALSO TAKE FULL BLAME FOR ALSO WANTING WHAT IM DOING NOW TO BE HEARD. 4. NOW IF YOU ALL STILL WANNA HEAR THE REST OF THAT ALBUM PUT TOGETHER PROPERLY, SEND A REQUEST TO WIDE AWAKE ENT. WHO SHOWED ME NOTHING BUT LOVE AND THEN I WILL DO MY BEST TO DUPLICATE THE REST OF THAT ALBUM THEN EVERYBODY WILL BE HAPPY AND WE ALL CAN GO PARTY. LOVE YOU ALL ONE LOVE MY SCHOLARS!

Pity that some of the material was missing. The song with Snoop he's talking about is Blueberries. A real nice G-Funk track.
