Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is there anyone in Dublin that rents / sells replica German WW2 outfits? Ie officers caps, trench coats, badges, etc for a fancy dress sometime in the new year?. There use to be a place called Yesteryear near the old Rutland bike shop around the corner from Dorset St that had a good selection of WW2 and Post war memorabilia.

    Cheers.

there is a shop on grafton street that has a gestapo suit. extremely tacky and bad taste.
you might want to confer with prince harry about acceptability of such an outfit

I'd recommend possibly re thinking your choice of costume. I had a friend who dressed up in a German ww2 outfit before and added in a swastika for extra effect. At the party he was going to there were five Germans....as you can imagine it did not go down well.

I too am interested in this; I've always wanted one of those SS Overcaots- They look so badass. Naturally I wont be sporting any markings that would offend any other person, its just the style of trenchcoat Im after.

I have seen original full length leather trench coats on ebay in the past though original items are going to cost a small fortune. If it has to be original check out militaria websites but be prepared to pay.

If it's just for the look and style of it maybe you could buy one from a re-enactor clothing store and then remove any insignia you choose to.

There are sites out there that sell modern reproductions to re-enactment groups - some of them even custom tailor them to exact measurements so that might be worth looking into. Can't say for certain I have seen leather trenchcoats on them but could be worth a try.

THE NVA coat looks similar and can be had for a fraction of the cost. a ss repro overcoat is easy to get. just google any one of the many reenactment suppliers.

    Cheaper to get them online.
You can buy reproduction steel helmets, leather belt kit, field grey or camouflage tunics, trousers, jackboots and medals and ribbons and replica Luger pistols or K98 Mauser rifles for reasonable prices.
Since Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers etc. the whole re-enactment community has really taken off so there are specialized companies who make high quality reproduction clothing for enthusiasts. I think there's a outfit called Army Group Centre based in Ireland who do public appearances modelling themselves on the Brandenburg commandos.
