IOL, iolfree, Esatclear, Oceanfree Mail - Cannot receive using Windows Live Mail

    Hi,

    For IOL, IOLfree, Esatclear and Oceanfree mail users that have upgraded from Outlook to Windows Live Mail, please check the account setting within the programme.

    Microsoft have changed a default setting.
    Old default setting was that "leave copy on server" was unticked.
    New default setting, "leave copy on server" is ticked.

    The above mail accounts only have a 10Mb allowance, therefore, if your mail browser (Outlook/windows live mail) leaves a copy on the server, it will not be long before your quota is exceeded.

    To resolve this, you need to look at the account settings and untick the "leave copy on server", then log onto your mail account (online) and delete any unwanted emails, empty trash and bring the quota below 10Mb.
    ideally, you may want to completely empty this mail box, but is recommended you check frequently.

    Please note;
    The default access to the accounts is as follows;

    IOL - http://webmail.iol.ie
    iolfree - http://webmail.iolfree.ie
    esatclear - http://webmail.esatclear.ie
    Oceanfree - http://webmail.oceanfree.net

    Other ways to access are not supported.

    Please be sure you can access via the above sites, prior to contacting BT Ireland for any support.

    Please also note;
    If you are able to receive mail, your account is working.
    If you cannot send mail, check with your ISP.
