Just a reminder that ESA's Automated Transfer Vehicle that delivered Cargo to the ISS last February is due to undock at 15.49 today.
NASA TV plan to cover it starting at 15.30.
i also when i can watch these events like to open a second tab to watch the channel Live Space Station views that can be found on NASA TV's own webpage as a seperate Channel,it often shows events long before they start on the main Channel and continues long after
the NASA channel only use's Windows Media player,if that does not work for you Spacevidcast Broadcast it in Flash.
    http://www.spacevidcast.com/isslive/

    NASA TV page:

    http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/index.html

as well as delivering supplys ATV will carry home waste from the Station and will burn up on re-entry leaving no Space junk.

ATV has given the ISS an almost 30KM's boost to its orbit, the largest ever AFAIK,the reason for this is the ISS will have to reboost its orbit far less often thus saving precious fuel.

My question is would a 30KM higher orbit make much of a diffrience to how long we see it before Earth gets in the way of Sunlight reflecting from it?(i have read the other variables, time of year etc on the previous posts, just curious about the higher orbits effect,if any)

The answer is yes. The higher an object the longer its orbit and as a result the further it has to travel before it enters the shadow. What difference 30km would make I have no idea however:confused: i think we need a mathematician of Buzz Aldrin to work out the orbital mechanics for us:)

Just saw the ISS passing from west to east.... but before that (approx 2 mins) did anyone else see a fainter looking object moving from east to west?

More than likely was a Satellite, lots of them up there and if you stargaze for a while on a clear night you will see them.
