So this tv will record freesat and Irish DTT directly to any old HDD? Have you got one / tried it out?

    Sounds interesting!

it does have a dvb tuner which will receive Irish DTT and a Sat Tuner to pick up Freesat - but the recording functionality is limited to recording whatever is on at the time.. i.e you cant record from the sat tuner while watching the irish channels.. i use it with a freesat+ box and find it handy for recording the odd thing.. it doesnt have series link functionality either.. i have tried a couple of USB portable drives and they all have worked.. capacity needs to be above 160gb

Lads, I appreciate you're trying to be helpful, but would ye please have a read of the Charter and let RS answer queries on their forum ?
If you see a post which is looking for a quote or advice from RS, please resist the urge to offer your opinion ! Such queries are not an open invitation for posters to make suggestions etc, these queries should be left to RS to answer. If queries or requests for quotes attracted everyone's opinion, the forum would be unworkable. This is not intended to prevent the usual chat and banter which you will regularly see on the RS forum.

I'm not snipping the posts above at this stage, but please take note that this is not a regular discussion forum, if you're gripped by the impulse to be helpful please got to the Home Entertainment Forums, lots of queries to be answered there.

    Thanks,

    Ritz.

    Hoot,

Really apologies for the delay getting back to you - unfortunately we have been a bit crazy over the last week and our Boards presence has really suffered.

Guys & Ritzy - many thanks for your input - I guess that Hoot is looking for a STB which is Freesat & MPEG4 - we dont sell any standard free to air Freeaat only FREESAT HD and at the moment there are no combo MPEG4 / Freesat HD boxes that record available to the best of my knowledge - but given that Freeview HD is really starting to catch on in the UK and it can be used in the ROI as well for the new digital service - hopefully it won't be too long before we see exactly what you are looking for.

Perhaps give Tony from satellite.ie a shout - he is a specialist on Sat & STB's so he will know even better than me what's on the horizon.

Apologies again for the delay getting back to you and please drop me a line if we can assist in any way,

    ATVB,

    John Mc & Crew
