I'm with ye's lads. Can't stand new years. Everyone trying to force themselves to have fun and make it "the bestest night everererr!!!" so hard that they all look like they are either constipated or having a mild stroke. Has to be the most pretentious non-event on the calender. Turns normal people into some kind of prozac riddled soap opera actors. I'll be turning off my phone about 9pm, cracking open a bottle of whisky and playing guitar and **** whilst watching movies until I pass out on the couch...... And I still bet I will have a more interesting and genuinely enjoyable night than the coat hanger smile zombies that will be crammed into the clubs.

    FYP :pac:

In fairness, I wouldn't mind going out but for obvious reasons I usually stay in with the family. I always hated the grind of going into town on NYE though: exorbitant prices; hell getting home; overcrowding and trouble.

Ill be heading out only 3 euro for all drink's why not :D beats what i paid last year in the write venue 20 euro in and then 6.50 a pint

It's just another day on the calendar for me. I'll be out but don't for one minute think i'll be forcing myself to have fun. I'll be drunk so the fun will just come naturally. Or unnaturally depending on your view of a few scoops.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,049 ✭✭✭✭eh i dunno

Heading out around 8 with the woman but am leaving around 12:05 as i aint spending hours waiting on a taxi :D

Woke up with a bit of a cough this morning. Medicine on the way, non-drowsy sort, will see how I feel later on. House party if I'm able.

never fully understood the whole anti NYE thing.People seem to think their making a big point by not going out....no one cares.

Ill be in a packed noisy pub/club in galway along with half of dublin it seems, and i cant wait for it!

Whats so fun about being in a packed club? You won't be able to hear what anyone is saying unless your roar at each other. But doing so will make your throat sore and hoarse within about 10 minutes, in which case you will reach a point where you and your mates are basically just standing there in silence for most of the night, pretending your really into the music or something.

You will also be getting elbowed every 2 seconds and pushed out of the way every 5 seconds so someone can get past.

Then some pr1ck who is off his tits will come over to your group and with his arms in the air, he will bump into a few people and will be roaring like a maniac with a glazed look in his eyes. His expression will suddenly change to a serious one, he will hold out his hand and want to shake the hand of everyone in your group. Once that is over his expression will change back to the glazed look, his hands will go back in the air, he will start roaring again and make his way towards the dancefloor while everyone in your group is thinking what a knobhead.

Then you'll go to the bar to get a drink which will mean queing up for at least an hour. A few drunk twatheads will push in front of you, in which case you have a choice of having a row with them or letting it slide. Then when you get near the front of the queue the bloke in front of you who is ordering will have a neverending order, usually something like 5 pints, 5 cocktails, 5 shots, 5 whiskeys.........Eventually when he has got all his drink he will be handing it out to his mates who are over your shoulder, inevitably half the drink will fall on you, usually its the stickiest drinks like the shots which will fall on you.

I could go on but that is basically what you have got to look forward to tonight. I really can't figure out why people try to kid themselves that they are having a good time when they go to these places.

Haven't been out for NYE for 16 years, since my eldest daughter was born....could never get babysitters, so had no choice!

Still, it's nice just to chill with some champagne, watching Jools Holland and snuggling up in front of the fire with people you care about :)

I'm having some ppl over to the house for some drinks, but realistically I couldn't give a crap.

If I was in on my tobler I'd enjoy it watching a movie or playin the playstation.

I can't understand people who hit town on nights like this, taxi fares are up at rate C (nearly €2 a km) after 8pm, clubs have ridiculous entrance fees (one Leeson St. venue charging €20) and drinks are always full price.

Not to mention the fact that clubs are like cans of sardines they're so packed and getting to the bar in itself is a feat. And the usual fight for a taxi which at worst can take 3 hours to get one (from experience)

I'm lucky the parents are letting me have a few ppl up, cos there's no way I'd head out tonight.

    People on facebook already throwing out the;
"OMGGGGG END THE YEAR LIKE YOU WANT THE NEXT ONE TO START LOLZ"

    piss off.
