First Gaelic Irish number 1 single?

Am hoping someone can help me - was at an Altan gig last night and they played a piece that they said a recording of was the first Irish language single to go to number 1 (in Ireland).

I think they also said it was an emigration song and centred around Gweedore?

I could be barking well up the wrong tree (several pints were in tow at this stage) but the tune is caught in my head, any help in naming it would be appreciated.

As far as I know the only Irish language single to top the charts is Ceol an Ghra by Sandie Jones, which was also Ireland's Eurovision entry for 1972.

Báidín Fheidhlimidh made it to number 6 in 1968 for Emmet Spiceland. (who made it to no. 1 with the english song Mary from Dungloe in the same year.)
