Dear Digger, Ok fine, you were right. The word ‘confidentially’ does appear in the Oxford English Dictionary. However, you will not receive any grammatical kudos for your use of said word, as, a mon avis, it is a ridiculous word and nothing more than further evidence of the tripe that that the directors of the OED are willing to include in the esteemed book, for reasons none other than to make a cheap buck!! That is all. Yours etc.

 I'm shocked. What made you think it wasn't in the dictionary? And you supposed to be one of the country's top legal minds ;):P

Why?..... I could probably do without spending the money!

Not sure yet about Tuesday yet as not sure what part of the country I'll be in that day but I'd like to do it. Would be interested to see how close I could get to a Sub 5 400m....

I would be willing to pace this for you for ****s and giggles.... Given that I was running close to that on my first one with Meno I think I could give you a good one starting off? Meno? I know it might throw things off but want to have a go at this tonight? I won't be pushing as hard as last week as pushed off too hard at the start last week but one won't hurt I don't think

I'm doing 10 x 200m tonight (it's a 5k training plan ) so the pace for the 200's should be just under 5 min/mile if you want a lift for the first half...

Hmmmm......maybe..... I can't get my head around what training plan I should be doing :confused:

I have said it before and I'll say it again. You are just coming back, you should really be just doing 3-4 runs a week very slowly to build a base. Base building, does not involve intervals or speedwork ;).

  • Registered Users Posts: 570 ✭✭✭Perkina3

Aye but I am young and foolhardy :)

And I was doing a small bit of maintenance work before the blog started.... though training got disrupted a bit last week! :(

My brother Meno is right. Build up a base and forgot the speed stuff.

Feck all good having a lovely house but no steel in the foundations - the house will fall down, tis just a matter of when.

Having been t'Interweb-less for a few days, I've a bit to catch up on....

Tuesday - Ran to UCD, I started at 9:15 pace and gradually pushed the pace and by the last couple of miles I was fairly motoring...Ended up as
    6.67 Miles @ 8:05 Pace
Track session with meno, RK, Aimman, Fin??, Miss Hot and Perky....I did a warm up again followed by 7 x 400m with my pupil at between approx 6:36 and 6:54 pace before a final 400m at 4:55 pace......Also did a few warm down laps...
    4 Miles

Wednesday, just went for a nice easy run as the legs/feet felt quite 'strained' after the track session....

    5.14 @ 9.15 pace

Intending on my LSR this evening if anyone is around the Park!?

Wow......I found my log on Page 5

Wednesday, 5.14 miles at 9 point something pace

    Thursday, 10.7 miles @ 8:56 followed by 1 x 8:50, 1 x 8:15, 1 x 7:29 and 1.3 warm-down, total 15 miles

Saturday, 3 miles at 8.56 pace

Sunday, Sportsworld 5 Mile Race - Met up at the start with some Boardsies and through not concentrating or being prepared, ended up starting too far back. As a result I had to skip around and squeeze through some Monster Munchies but got on my intended 7 Min mile pace pretty quickly..... Heading down the Wainsfort Rd I got to 6:57 pace to give myself something in lieu for the Whitehall rd into the wind....Was bang on 7 min pace as I reached the top of same and again go back to 6:56 pace which I pretty much held all the way to the line.....

Great to get the cheers from jcsmum, mrslow and meno who'd made their way from the Park mid LSR, crossed the line in an official 34:41, which is a new PB :D

    7 Miles (including warm-up/warm-down of 2 miles)

    Update.....

Monday - Recovery run - 4 Miles at 8:48 pace

Tuesday - Track session with the usual suspects.... I was acting as a gentleman pacer, so, after the warm-up I did 8 x 400's at splits of 1:44, 1:42, 1:43, 1:43, 1:42, 1:44, 1:44 and then pushed my pupil for her last one at 1:37, funny watching the state of her after that one :D. Before the warm-down I went off and did a quick 400 on my own.... 70 seconds!, Very happy with that, it was equivalent to 4:42 mile pace:D

    5 Miles total

70 seconds on a training run, nice. You should have a look at masters track races when you recover from Cork, you could do quite well with that speed.

That's what Menopause was saying last night but I usually pay little attention to him ;)

Menopause is right, I have a feeling that if you were fresh you could push it very close to 60 seconds which would be very competitive in the over 50's grade.
