Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Does anyone know of someone who could convert our mini dv films to cd/dvd? Do you know what costs are involved as we have a lot to convert!

    Thanks.

You can do it yourself using Moviemaker on your computer.
Once you have the DV camera and a DVD burner.
    Cheers

Thanks. We have already tried this though, but there is a 'communication problem' between the camera and the computer. The tapes play fine from camera to television though.

Would it be a good idea to buy a DVD recorder and link it up this way? Has anyone else tried this?

Have a look at this link, it is for XP but for later operating systems it will be similar. Do you have a firewire/IEEE 1394 input on your computer ?

We have been using moviemaker with a 1394 and it used to recognise the camcorder connected as a 'JVCGRDV7' but now only sees it as a 'AVC DV' compliant device and will not allow us to control the camcorder through windows moviemaker.

When going into device manager it does not have any updated drivers for this camcorder, but what is there is listed as JVC drivers, so the computer knows it is a JVC device. Mystery?!

    Thanks pixbyjohn btw.

    Any advice please?!!

Have you tried to play the movie from the camcorder, and in moviemaker on windows clicked on 'capture from device'?

With DV tapes I think you need to play the camcorder and stream the video to the computer - bit of a nuisance I know but it's probably the only way it will work. I don't think the computer will able to take a file, like mpeg or avi, from the tape.

Do you have a DVD burner on the computer?
