Hi, anyone stay in Lisloughry Lodge and if so, what did you think of it? The website looks amazing.

What is there to do in Cong if going for a 3 day break.

    Thanks :D

Yes I've stayed there a few times in the past. It is every bit as good as the web site suggests!

I don't know about the winter, but in the summer there are trips on the Corrib, fishing, hill walking, golf and so on.

    Jim.

You could always pop into Ashford Castle for a cup of tea. The grounds are lovely to pass a few hours. In winter or summer. Just wrap up warm.

Boats on the corrib run all year round. You can hire Bikes in the Village. Staying within the Coillte Woods you have a nice 10 to 15 km of solid surface trails and you can get to Clonbur only having to cross a public road once.(You will get a good lunch in Clonbur) Though the roads around Cong are quiet enough and the locals are well used to cyclists.
Mount Gable/Ben Levy is a nice climb do able by anyone of basic fitness. There is a old path up so pretty straight forward. View from the top is worth it. The easier walk up to and around Lough Coolin is also a nice walk. The Famine Village is well worth a look at.

What a guided tour of the area. Well done and I agree it is a beautiful part of the country and have done those walks myself on numerous occasions and they are breathtaking. Have also stayed in Lisloughrey Lodge and while the setting is okay, it does not reflect the prices they charge. Also, bring winter woolies with you because it is a cold spot. Great area though.

Used to work in the hotel. Absolutely stunning and very beautiful hotel. Loads to do in the area as previously mentioned such as Ashford castle and the grounds, Cong/ Clonbur woods and Ben Levy is defineatly worth a walk. Fishing and Cycling are popular in the area too.

hope you enjoy your stay OP :)
