Good refereeing there from Howard Webb, however, if that's Cattermole he's definitely getting sent-off. It wasn't a red though.

Surprised Joey didn't get sent off there if I'm honest.

Can see how it would be red, it has high and studs up, think it was just over exuberant as opposed to being dirty

He'd do well seeing as he's not playing.

Unlucky Jose. Tiote has been immense today. As has Jonas which is surprising.

Newcastle did just enough against a terrible Wigan. Could, nay should have been a lot more comfortable with both our center backs hitting the woodwork and Best and Ameobi missing great chances.

Have to say that the Newcastle fans were superb today. Sounded like a home game

    That will do nicely.

We were poor but didn't need to be anything special to beat a truly god awful Wigan side.

Tiote's a horrible person. People like him are ruining the game. He should be fined for cheating

Think Wigan could plummet if they loose the likes of insomnia N'Zogbia

Wigan were awful alright, hard to see how they managed to peg back Arsenal only a few days ago.

Just looking back at the Barton tackle, his foot was very, very high and over the ball:

it was, and he was lucky not to go. As i said before, dont think it was a dirty challenge just over enthusiastic, does not look great in that still and as with anything that Barton does it will be analysed to death to see if there is malice involved

I wouldn't give him too much grief for that, in fairness this guy has been tough as nails throughout our campaign so far and it's the first incident in which he has acted like this. He obviously rolled around to kill some more time and to settle the game down as Wigan were looking dangerous in the last few minutes.

I don't think it was malicious, just extremely clumsy. I agree, he was lucky not to be sent off, no doubt this won't be the last time we hear about this challenge considering his reputation.

Thought Webb did well with the situation, every other ref would of given him the red based on the name on the back of his shirt.
