Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all,

I need your help. I am Greek and have A1 license since 1998(also B since 2002).
Can i convert it to Irish A now? Do i have to pass any exams?

    Thanks

Fraid not matey. You'll have to get yourself an A provisional and wait your 6 months and do the test before you can get a Full A licence

For all intents and purposes, because you must apply for a provisional "A" licence, you are considered a "new" motorcyclist.

You will need to take the theory test for category AM, then you can apply for your learner permit.
Before you can drive a motorcycle over 125cc on the roads on your own, you will need to complete the Initial Basic Training course for motorcycles.

Then you have to wait six months before you can apply for a driving test.

I would think his Greek (EU) A1 will permit him to drive up 125cc. Beyond that he'll need the IBT, Learner Permit, etc.

If it's a Greek provisional (Which he doesn't mention) then he will have to do theory test and IBT unless as you say it is a full A1 then he should be OK. To go up to the A permit he will have to do a conversion module (Modules 2 & 4 of the IBT syllabus) for the larger bikes.
