My gf and me are thinking of renting an apartment together, a 1 bed fully furbished apartment for 400 a month with bills added (tv,esb, bins, heating) would probably be more like 600-650 a month, im 23 and shes 21 and we are both doing fas courses at the moment bringing in 200 a week from it respectively, we would be both entitled to this after the course ends from the social welfare but still have 5 and 7 months left on our courses but we both wish to have some kind of work before having to sign on again, considering it would be are first time renting we would be entitled to rent allowance after 6 months of renting, im just wondering how a landlord would view are case, we have 800 saved up to get our deposit and pay the rent in advance.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If understand that, you're planning to spend 600 or so a month from your 800 a month income on somewhere to live, before thinking of things like food, transport, socialising, clothes?
I think that's madness. If neither of you has a job or the possibility of getting one in the near future, you should look at getting housed by the council somehow, because those figures just don't add up (in my opinion)

I would have read that as 800 euro each? If so you should be ok.

My question is where on earth are you getting a 1 bed apartment for 400??

I was assuming the rent was 800 (which seems normal) being split in 2, if it's 400 for the apartment they're on firmer footing but i'd still be very careful

it's all very confusing. OP can you clarify please?

Edit, sorry OP I see your title now. So you guys are on (I assume) 800 each a month, but your rent including bills will be 1200? That doesn't add up at all OP - you won't survive on that. But bills wouldn't be that high.

If you are on 800 each - 1600 a month income.
    Rent - 400 each + approx 100 each bills - 1000 a month outgoing.

That leaves you with 600 between ye for the month to live on. That's not going to work.

Yes sorry it was abit late when i wrote that and you are correct with the figures, we would be bringing in 1600 a month between us, but the rent it is not 1000 outgoing it would be 400 split between us, the rent is 400 in total.

If I was you OP I'd be looking at more expensive places and try to bargain the landlords down, nearly everywhere is a letter's market these days - if not everywhere. Taht apartment looks really small and while it seems okay now within a few weeks you'd both likely be climbing the walls.

also bills shouldn't be that high a month either, 250 seems a lot to me.

ours in an 2 bed apt are:
ESB about 50 (last bi monthlies have been 80, 80, 120) thats with a massive tv, fishtank, halogen spots all over the place, heating shower water and an xbox on a lot ;)
    Gas about 20
    TV&Internet 50 (upc)
bins included in rent as an apartment block.
