The south west is hardly ever a favorable place to be in marginal conditions so snow here and not further east and north is a pleasant change even though i hope other's marginality improves as darkman has suggested.

Started as rain here then turned to hail then snow, patience maybe? Given your elevation id say you should be good for a few cms.

At or just above freezing. It's still marginal but winds should be off shore.

Yeah I'm guessing the snow level is about 1200ft at present.
Theres icy bits in the rain here on the windscreen despite the high dp of 3.2c

sleet/snow here since about 2. -1 by my very scientific car temp. roads are getting white but not cars or grass. very light dusting though :o

  • Registered Users Posts: 671 ✭✭✭NIALL D

was raining for about half hour here in south tipp , bit of sleet mixed in ...
    drizzle now.
if them charts work out , will it land cause the ground is so wet now ? or are temps suppose to drop a bit allowing it to land if the ground is cold enough ?

Fairly pelting down rain here now in Wicklow Town/Rathnew

I thought there would be snow up the country but I think that's unlikely now. This band of raining is just that and its gotten warmer down here the further into the front we go (dp and temp both now 3c). It was very cold when it arrived so I am afraid I wouldn't rely too much on how things feel in predicting what will fall when the rain hits. Hope I'm proved wrong though. Perhaps the fall of night and a change in wind direction might help ye.

    When you're wrong, you're wrong!

A Snow Warning was issued for Shannon Airport at 1430, valid until midnight: "Risk of Light Snow"

    Snow also falling in Roscrea

Going home to Louth will be interesting tonight. Only 6 miles from the coast but I've one excellent card in my hands... home is about 150 metres above sea level;)

In bad news, the NRA stations in south Louth which are going to be a real bellweather for the drop in temperatures throughout Leinster later are as high as about 4 degrees... And that's only in a very light easterly breeze.

I'm ten minutes from Bruff and it's raining heavily enough at the moment, only had a few minutes snow after 2pm.

    Snow/hail west limerick landing 300m

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,953 ✭✭✭JanuarySnowstor

That band of snow over Kerry should move in over Cork in the next hour or so. Or what i'm trying to say is our rain should change to snow in an hour. Cork could get 3 or 4 hours worth of snow before all this clears. I did say yesterday that after 4pm was our best chance:D

A steely grey and very calm here in Sandyford. A non-snowy +3C at the moment but dry as a bone.
