Where to save money anymore?

Ive never posted in this forum but after reading this http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/pricewatch/2011/0103/1224286665028.html im not sure if i want to put my money in bank anymore. I just want to know if the advice in this article is financially sound? does it make sense to people in this forum?

The An Post rates for Certs, Bonds or Instalment Savings (all DIRT free) are the most competitive on the market. It is the best savings solution for money that you do not require immediate access to. With certs you can withdraw money after 6 monthly intervals although the interest rate you will receive will be less than if you leave it for the full period.
